Exactly 30 minutes after the Andersons' head south on the highway, the Quentins' set out from the same point and follow the same route. The Andersons' travel at 50mi/h. The Quentins' travel at 65 mi/h. How long does it take the Quentins' to overtake the Andersons?

So Speed * Time= Distance
Let t be time for Anderson.
The t-30 be time for Quentins
So
Convert 30 mins to hours as the speed is miles/hr.

50t=+65%28t-0.5%29
50t=65t-32.5
50t-65t=-32.5
-15t=-32.5
t=2.1667

it will take Quentins :-
t-0.5=2.1677-0.5=1.66666667 hours
