You can put this solution on YOUR website! Ann worked 54 hours last week and recieved 564.25 total pay. How much did she make per hour assuming that overtime is over 40.
The problem doesn't mention that overtime rate, per hour is time & a ˝, or 1˝ of one's regular pay rate?
This means that of the 54 total hours worked, 40 hours is earned at the regular rate, while 14 (54 - 40) is earned at the overtime, or time and a ˝ or 1˝ rate
Let regular per-hour rate = H. Since overtime = 1˝ of hourly rate, we get:
40P + 14(1˝ * P) = 564.25
40P + 21P = 564.25
61P = 564.25
P, or per-hour regular rate = or $
