One of the world's deepest water wells is 7320 feet deep. Find the time between the instant you drop a stone and the time you hear it hit the water if the surface of the water is 7100 feet below the opening of the well. Round your answer to the nearest tenth of a second.
s=16t^2...
7100=16^t^2
t=sqrt(7100/16)=21 sec it takes for stone to hit the water
time for travel of sound = 7100/1144=6.2 sec
total time=21+6.2=27.2 sec
