Question 505982: for $2.40 a grocer buys a case of fruit witch contains 12 dozen she knows that two dozen will spoil before she sells them at what price must she sell the good ones to profit 1/3 of the whole cost Answer by Maths68(1474) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! for $2.40 a grocer buys a case of fruit witch contains 12 dozen she knows that two dozen will spoil before she sells them at what price must she sell the good ones to profit 1/3 of the whole cost
Cost of the case of fruit = 2.40
Profit is 1/3 of the cost = 2.40 * (1/3) = 2.40/3=0.80
She has to sell at a price that she could get = Cost + Profit = 2.40 + 0.8 = 3.20
Total fruit = 12 dozen
After 2 dozen will spoil = 12-2=10 dozen
Now she has to sell 10 dozen
Selling price = cost + profit/ Total Dozens of fruit
=3.20/10
=0.32
=$0.32 per dozen
