You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let's deal in pennies
Let x=the cost of a bag of cashews
then x-42=cost of a bag of peanuts
The cost of the cashews and peanuts before they are mixed together has to equal the cost after they are mixed, soooo:
20x+20(x-42)=40*110
20x+20x-840=4400 add 840 to each side
40x=5240
x=131 or $1.31 --------------cost of a bag of cashews
and
x-42=131-42=$0.89----------cost of a bag of peanuts
CK
20*($1.31)+20*($0.89)=40*($1.10)
$26.20+$17.80=$44.00
$44.00=$44.00

Hope this helps--ptaylor
