You can put this solution on YOUR website!

4y%5E3%2B12y%5E2-y-3 Start with the given expression

%284y%5E3%2B12y%5E2%29%2B%28-y-3%29 Group the terms in two pairs

4y%5E2%28y%2B3%29-1%28y%2B3%29 Factor out the GCF 4y%5E2 out of the first group. Factor out the GCF -1 out of the second group

%284y%5E2-1%29%28y%2B3%29 Since we have the common term y%2B3, we can combine like terms

%282y-1%29%282y%2B1%29%28y%2B3%29 Now factor 4y%5E2-1 to get %282y-1%29%282y%2B1%29 (use the difference of squares formula)

So 4y%5E3%2B12y%5E2-y-3 factors to %282y-1%29%282y%2B1%29%28y%2B3%29

In other words, 4y%5E3%2B12y%5E2-y-3=%282y-1%29%282y%2B1%29%28y%2B3%29
