Quantity Eq: n = p + 50
Quantity Eq: d = n + 25

Substitute for "p" and for "d" and solve for "n":
(n-50) + n + (n+25) = 425
---
3n -25 = 425
3n = 450
n = 150 (# of nickels)

p = n-50 = 100 (# of pennies)
