Question 504010: In 7-10, < A and < B are complementary. Find the measure of each angle if the measure of the two angles are represented by the given expressions. Solve the problem algebraically using an equation
7. m < a = x,m < b = 5x
8. m < a = x,m < b = x+20
9. m < a = x,m < b = x-40
10. m < a = x,m < b = 2y+30

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
I'll do #7 to start you off.

Since "< A and < B are complementary", we know that m < a + m < b = 90

But since m < a = x and m < b = 5x, we know that

x + 5x = 90

Now solve for x

x + 5x = 90

6x = 90

x = 90/6

x = 15

So m < a = x = 15 degrees and m < b = 5x = 5(15) = 75 degrees
