I am learning about Solving Linear Equations and Inequalities and i am a college student. if it helps i am using the book entitled "Elementary Algebra for College Students" (8th edition)

Expand the 2nd term, +-3%2A%28+-2x+%2B+4+%29+
+2x+%2B+6x-+12+=+-13+%2B+x+
Subtract x from both sides
+8x+-+x+-+12+=+-13+
Add 12 to both sides
+7x+=+-1+
+x+=+-1%2F7+
I get your answer with a minus sign
