Question 501614: The length of a rectangle is twice its width. What is the perimeter, if the area is 48 square inches? Answer by ptaylor(2198) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Area(A) of a rectangle=Length(L)*Width(W) or A=LW
Let W=width
then 2W=length
So
A=2W^2=48 sq inches
A=W^2=24 sq inches
W=4.9 in
L=2W=9.8 in
Perimeter(P)=2L+2W
P=19.6+9.8=29.4 in
Hope this helps---ptaylor
