x + 1/3y = 32
multiply this equation by 3.
3x + y = 96
x + y = 90
multiply the second equation by -1 and add.
2x = 6
x = 3 degrees; the smaller angle.
the complement is 87 degrees.
1/3 87 = 29 + 3 = 32
This does check.
