Question 499632: How do I find 2 consecutive even integers whose sum is 26?
I set up my equation like this X+2+X+4=26
I then combined the like terms 2x+6=26
Then i subtracted 6 from each side. -6 -6
after doing so, i got 2x=20
I then divided by 2 on each side 2x/2 20/2
After divided I got the answer of X=10
I don't think i have done this correctly?
I would appreciate your help.
Thanks

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How do I find 2 consecutive even integers whose sum is 26?
I set up my equation like this X+2+X+4=26
I then combined the like terms 2x+6=26
Then i subtracted 6 from each side. -6 -6
after doing so, i got 2x=20
I then divided by 2 on each side 2x/2 20/2
After divided I got the answer of X=10
------------
x = 10
Your integers are x+2 and x+4
= 12 & 14
------------
Use x and x+2
then 2x+2 = 26
x = 12
--> 12 & 14
