You can put this solution on YOUR website!
please help me solve this problem
9 - 8y > 5 + 7y + 2
I've tried and got the following:

 9 - 7 > 7y + 8y CORRECT!

     2 > 15y CORRECT!

  2/15 > y CORRECT!

That's perfectly correct! (But don't put equal signs
between steps!)

---------------------

 -8y - 7y > 7 - 9 CORRECT

     -15y > -2 CORRECT

        y < -2/15 INCORRECT!!!!!!

That last step is wrong. You were
correct to reverse the inequality
symbol when you divided through by
-15, but when you divided the
right side, -2, by -15 you should
have gotten +2/15, not -2/15, so
make that last step

       y < 2/15

and it will be correct. You do
realize that this and

    2/15 > y

are equivalent statements, don't you?
