You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First distribute 2(x-4)
so, 2x-8=22 you multiplied 2 by x and then by -4.
now isolate 2x by subtracting -8 from both sides
so, 2x=30
that was the same as adding 8 to both sides
last devide both sides by 2 to isolate x
x=15
2(15)-8=22
30-8=22
22=22

Your question "what is 2(x-4) = 22" would return some answer such as "equation." If you want to solve for x, first divide both sides by 2.

x-4 = 22/2 = 11

Add 4 to both sides, x = 15.
