Question 497816: Please help me solve this word problem: If angle JNP = 3x - 15 and angle JNL = 5x + 59, find the value of x so that angle JNP and angle JNL are supplements of each other. Answer by cleomenius(959) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! JNP = 3x - 15
JNL = 5x + 59
3x - 15 + 5x + 59 = 180 degrees.
8x + 44 = 180 degrees
8x = 136
x = 17
JNP = 3(17) -15 = 36 degrees
JNL = 5(17) + 59 = 144 degrees
36 + 144 = 180 degrees.
