You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Meg and her twin brother James are 3yrs older than their sister Hannah and 2yrs younger than their brother Will.
If the sum of the 4 childrens age is 55, how old are the children?
:
Let t = the twins, Meg and Jame's age
then
t - 3 = Hannah's age
and
t + 2 = Will's age
:
"If the sum of the 4 childrens age is 55,"
:
twins + Hannah + Will = 55 yrs
2t + (t-3) + (t+2) = 55
4t - 1 = 55
4t = 55 + 1
4t = 56
t = 56/4
t = 14 yrs is the twins age
then
14-3 = 11 is Hannah's age
and
14+2 = 16 is Will's age
;
;
Check 28 + 11 + 16 = 55
