Question 496623: Find the value of each variable and the measure of each labeled angles. There are two lines that cross (like an X) the top is: (x plus y plus 5) degrees. The left is y degrees. The right is: 2x degrees. I don't know how I'm suppose to solve with two variables? Answer by cleomenius(959) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The left and right angles are equal, they are a pair of vertical angles.
Knowing this we are able to equate the y's to x's; this is how we can solve this problem which has two variables.
The same can be said for the top and bottom angles.
We also know the sum of the 4 angles is 360.
=====================================================================
so first up, lets change all our y's to 2x.
Top: x + 2x + 5
Bottom: x + 2x + 5
Left: 2x
Right: 2x
================================================================
Now add all 4 to sum to 260 degrees.
x + 2x + 5 + x + 2x + 5 + 2x + 2x = 360
10x = 350 degrees
x = 35 degrees.
==============================================================
So the top is 110 degrees.
The bottom is 110 degrees.
The left is 70 degrres
The right is 70 degrees.
110 + 110 + 70 + 70 = 360 degrees.
============================================================
This does check.
