Question 495036: Hi! Can you please help me solve this question?
You have a piece of paper,10cm by 10cm. Area=100 centermeter squared. For some reason you need a square piece of paper with an area of 50 centermeter squared. Using a square piece of paper, what's an easy way of getting the new square?
I don't really get what the question means. I was thinking it may be to cut the square in half.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
are you good at origami?

the length of the edge of the new (smaller) square is equal to half of the length of the diagonal of the original (larger) square

you can find the middle of the diagonal by folding along the diagonals and seeing where the folds intersect
