My name is Nikki, i am in 7th grade, learning pre-algebra. I need help learning a concept. I don't know how to explain it, here are some of the problems, (im not asking you to do these...)1) 4 more than twice a number 2)The difference of 10 and a number 3) The quotient of a number and 11 ect. if you know what these are would you explain it to me? if not its fine, i understand.
The assignment is due tomorrow 9/9/2011 it would be great if you could get it to me as soon as possible.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! We only have one unknown "number," so assume the number is x.
1. Twice a number means multiply the number (x) by 2. Usually it is denoted by 2x. Four more than twice a number means add 4 to twice the number (2x) or 4+2x.
Try the other ones the same way. Note that "difference" means subtract, "product" means multiply, and "quotient" means divide.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! These are "expressions" in English that are to be translated to (pre)algebra, using "n" (or any other letter except I or O - too much like 1, 0) in place of "number". So "5 more than twice the sum of 10 and number" is translated to "5 + 2 * (10 + n)", much less wordy!
