Let number of seats in Aircraft B be "b":

Let number of seats in Aircraft A be "a":
-----
Equations:
a + b = 449
a = b + 139
----
Substitute for "a" and solve for "b":
b+139 + b = 449
2b = 449-139
2b = 310
b = 155 seats (# of seats in Aircraft B)
----
Solve for "a":
a = b + 139
a = 155 + 139
a = 294 seats (# of eats in Aircraft A)

Let's write some equations!
The total number of seats is A%2BB=449
and A=B%2B139 since A has 139 more seats than B
Now we can solve them.
inserting A=B%2B139 into the first eaquation leads to
%28B%2B139%29%2BB=449
so 2%2AB=449-139=310
therefore B=310%2F2=155
and so A=B%2B139=155%2B139=294
