Question 490704: Find equation of line given these two points
(-3,-2) (2,6)
So far I have M = 8/5 [6-(-2)/2-(-3)]
y = 8/5x + b
6 = 8/5(2) + b
now what ?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Your slope is CORRECT m = 8/5
After that, you will use the slope-point formula as below:
y - yo = m(x - xo)
y - 6 = 8/5(x - 2)
y - 6 = 8x/5 - 16/5
y = 8x/5 - 16/5 + 6
y = 8x/5 - 16/5 + 30/5 ------------>(6 is replaced by 30/5 = 6)
y = 8x/5 + 14/5 which is what you are looking for!

hahaWe are trying to find equation of form y=ax+b, where a is slope, and b is intercept, which passes through points (x1, y1) = (-3, -2) and (x2, y2) = (2, 6).
Slope a is .
Intercept is found from equation , or . From that,
intercept b is , or .
y=(1.6)x + (2.8)
