I got -6a^-2. There can't be a negative exponent so then I did 1/-6a^2. I'm pretty sure I'm wrong. Help please

You can put this solution on YOUR website! You got the correct answer -6a^(-2)
However, when you change to the POSITIVE exponent, the part "-6" does not relate to a^(-2). Thus you don't remove -6.
The correct final answer is -6/a^2
