Question 490313: can someone help me?
a mini license plate for a toy car must consist of two letters followed by a one digit odd number. Each letter must be a P,Q,or a R. repetition of letters is not permitted.
a)use the counting principle to determine the number of points in the sample space.
b)construct a tree diagram to determine the number of points in the sample space.( i am having horrible trouble trying to do a tree diagram.)
c)list the sample space.
d)determine the exact probability of creating a mini license plate with a Q. give solution exactly in reduced fraction form.
any help with this is much appreciated.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a mini license plate for a toy car must consist of two letters followed by a one digit odd number. Each letter must be a P,Q,or a R. repetition of letters is not permitted.
------
# of ways to arrange the letters: 3! = 6
# of ways to select an odd digit: 5
=====
a)use the counting principle to determine the number of points in the sample space.
Ans: 6*5 = 30
------------------------
b)construct a tree diagram to determine the number of points in the sample space.( i am having horrible trouble trying to do a tree diagram.)
Ans: 30
at ------------------
c)list the sample space.
I'll list the branch that starts with "P".
PQ1,PQ3,PQ5,PQ7,PQ9,PR1,PR3,PR5,PR7,PR9
--
Then you have 10 more that start with R
Then you have 10 more that start with Q
=============================================
d)determine the exact probability of creating a mini license plate with a Q.
give solution exactly in reduced fraction form.
Ans: 10/30 = 1/3
