3 and 1/2 tons of coal costs $21.75
Twice as much coal would cost twice as much, so
7 tons of coal costs $43.50
Each ton of coal costs $43.50 / 7 = $6.22
A half-ton of coal would then cost $3.11
7 and 1/2 tons then costs $43.50 + $3.11 = $46.61
