You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How long does it take the runner to run 1 mile?
+3%2F25+ miles/minutes
Divide the top and bottom by 3
+%283%2F3%29+%2F+%2825%2F3%29+=+1+%2F+%2825%2F3%29+ miles/minutes
If the runner takes +25%2F3+ minutes to run 1 mile
the runner will take 26 times longer to run 26 miles
+26%2A%2825%2F3%29+=+650%2F3+ minutes
+650%2F3+=+216.667+ minutes
Convert this to hours using +1%2F60+ hour/minutes
+3.611117+ hrs
and +.611117%2A60+=+36.667+ minutes
and +.667%2A60+=+40+ sec
The runner does it in 3 hrs 36 min 40 sec

If a runner can run 3 miles in 25 minutes how long should it take to run a 26 mile marathon?

Since the runner can run a 3-mile distance in 25 minutes, or 5%2F12 hr

Then he/she is running at a speed of 3%2F%285%2F12%29, or 3%2A%2812%2F5%29, or 36%2F5 mph

Since the runner's speed = 36%2F5 mph, then the time it'd take him/her to run a 26-mile marathon = 26%2F%2836%2F5%29 ------- 26%2A%285%2F36%29 ------- %2813%2A5%29%2F18%29 ------ 65%2F18, or highlight_green%283%2611%2F18%29 hours, or 3 hours 36%262%2F3 minutes, or highlight_green%283_hours_36_minutes_40_seconds%29%29
