Question 487859: How do equations and graphs relate?
Answer by chessace(471) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! In several ways.
The main one is that a graph shows (curved lines usually) a set of points (x, y) taken from one (or more) function(s) y = f(x).
So you can see how the function looks.
Also 2 functions intersect at x, namely the equation f(x) = g(x) if and only if their graphs intersect at (on the same vertical line through) x on the x axis.
Also the roots of f(x) are points on the x axis where f(x) touches / crosses, and satify the equation f(x) = 0.
