You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the formula would be:

number of employees at the end of the year equals the number of employees at the beginning of the year plus the new employees added during the year minus the employees who left during the year.

let y = the number of employees at the end of the year.
let x = the number of employees at the beginning of the year.
let a = the employees added during the year.
let d = the employees dropped during the year.

the formula becomes:

y = x + a - d

at daniels' manuifacturing, you have:

x = 376 employees.
a = 38 employees
d = 12 employees

your equation of:

y = x + a - d

becomes:

y = 376 + 38 - 12 which becomes:
y = 402

daniel's manufacturing had 376 people at the beginning of the year anhd had 402 people at the end of the year.

this is a net change of 38 - 12 = 26.

376 + 26 = 402.
