You can put this solution on YOUR website! A coin collector has $45 in quarters and dimes. How many coins of each kind does he hae if the total number of his coins is 240?
---------------------------------------
Quarter DATA:
number of quarters= x ; value of these quarters = 25x cents
-----------------------------------
Dime DATA:
number of dimes= 240-x ; value of these dimes = 10(240-x)=2400-10x cents
-------------------------------------
EQUATION:
value + value = value
25x + 2400-10x = 4500 cents
15x=2100
x=140 (number of quarters)
200-x=60(number of dimes)
