Question 48625: What is the Order of Operations?
Answer by l_sickels(2) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The order of operations is really just an outline of the order of steps you take to solve a problem. The following is a list of the operations for you that I keep on file at all times. It really helps.
1. Perform all operations within the grouping symbols(in the () of the problem)
2. Evaluate all exponential expressions.
3. Do all the multiplication and divisions in the order in which they occur working from left to right
4. Do all the addition and subtraction in the order in which they occur working from left to right.
If you do these steps one at a time or eliminate the ones that dont apply, working your problem should be very easy
