You can put this solution on YOUR website!
OK, 14 people and we want to know the number of permutations for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

So... how many people could be 1st? Answer is 14.
So... how many people could then be 2nd (once someone is 1st)? Answer is 13.
So... how many people could then be 3rd (once someone is 1st and 2nd)? Answer is 12.

So we have 14*13*12 which is whatever it is. You work it out.

Hope this helps.
