Question 48361:  Does -4 satisfy the following compound inequality?  x < 5 and x > -3
 
	Check whether it satisfies either inequality individually.  If it doesn’t satisfy either one, then it doesn’t satisfy the compound inequality.

Between -3 and 5? No, does not satisfy both. 
x < 5 means ....-4,-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3,4 but less than five
