Let the numbers are x and y
One is thrice the other
x=3y…………….(1)
x+y=124 ……….(2)
put the value of x in (2)
3y+y=124
4y=124
4y/4=124/4 (divide by 4 both sides)
y=31
now put the value of y in (1)
x=3y
x=3(31)
x=93
So the numbers are 31,93
