Mr and Mrs Chan decided to share $120 equally between their children. When the eldest got a holiday job, he divided his share equally between all his brothers and sisters. If each child was given an extra $4, how many children are there in the Chan family?

[(120 / c)] / (c - 1) = 4

120 / c = 4c - 4

30 = c^2 - c

0 = c^2 - c - 30 ___ 0 = (c - 6)(c + 5)

c - 6 = 0 ___ c = 6
