You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let width of a rectangular garden be "x" m
Therefore length of a rectangular garden : x+12 m
Area of the garden : x*(x+12)...................(1)
Perimeter of the garden = 2*(Length+width)
2*(x+x+12)
4x+24............................................(2)
Further numerical value of its area is equal to 4 times the numerical value of its perimeter, therefore equating (1) with 4 times of (2)results in
x*(x+12) = 4*(4x+24)
x^2+12x = 16x+96
x^2+12x-16x-96=0
x^2-4x-96=0
x^2-12x+8x-96=0
x(x-12)+8(x-12)=0
(x+8)(x-12)=0
So x=12 or -8
Ans :
Width 12m, Lenth 24m
