Question 48075: what is probability?
 Answer by stanbon(75887)      (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! There are several definitions. In math courses the usual one
used in problems is "The probability of an event = (number of ways the event can happen)/(the total number of possible outcomes of the experiment).

For example: if you roll a 6-sides die there are 6 possible results.
The probability that you will roll a "3" is 1/6 because there is only
one way you can roll a "3".
