Question 480729: How is doing operations (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing) with rational expressions similar to or different from doing operations with fractions? Can understanding how to work with one kind of problem help understand how to do another type? When might you use this skill in real life?
I know both operations follow the same rules. Just like with numerical fractions, you need common denominators to add and subtract rational expressions also. Thats all I could figure out to write so far.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Rational expressions are essentially fractions, so all the corresponding operations are done the same way. You might use it when you want to add two ratios or maybe variable probabilities that depend on various factors.
