Question 48057: Please help me solve this problem I need to know if I got the right answer.
Question: Solve (x(x-2))/(x+5)>=0
What I have done so far:
Step 1: setting equation to (p(x))/(q(x))>0 is already done so no other steps needed.
Step 2: Set numberator and denominator equal to 0 and solve.
Numerator
(x(x-2)
x=0
Denominator
(x+5)
x= -5
Step 3:
Set boundary numbers
( - infinity, -5) ,(-5,0), (0, + infinity)
Step 4: Test values
Interval (- infininity, -5)
Test Value: -6
(-6(-6-2))/(-6+5) = 48/-1 = negative number
Interval (-5,0)
Test Value: -1
(-1(-1-2))/(-1+5) = 3/4 = positive number
Interval (0, + inifinity)
Test Value: 1
(1(1-2))/(1+5) = -1/6 + negative number
so the answer I got was all numbers in the (-5,0] interval, not including -5, but including 0. Is this right? Please help! Thank you!

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Good procedure, but don't you want
to look separately at the intervals
[0.2] and (2,infinity)?
