Question 48002: solve the equation
(4x+3.2)(9x-24.3)=0
Answer by longjonsilver(2297) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! you have (4x+3.2)(9x-24.3)=0 which is 2 things multiplied together equalling zero. So "two numbers multiply to give zero". What we INSTANTLY know in this situation is that one of the 2 numbers must be zero, since:
2x3 is 6, not zero
30x4 is 120, not zero
but
0x35 is zero
28.1112x0 is zero
etc
So, either (4x+3.2)=0 or (9x-24.3)=0
so, 4x = -3.2 or 9x = 24.3
so x = (-3.2)/4 or x = (24.3)/9
x = -0.8 or x = 2.7
