Question 479860: I am working on my math packet for school. I came across a section in it, in which i completely forgot how to do. i asked my family and they helped me on most of the problems but they couldn't help me figure this one out.
I am suppose to determine the answer for each problem. Simplify when possible:
Here is the equation: 3%282x%2B1%29-%28x-5%29
I've tried combining the "x"s and I have also tried using the order of operations but no matter what i use, it seems like i can't solve it.
If you could go through each step and explain what you did and why you did it, i would make it much easier for me to understand and i would greatly appreciate it.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
you did not show an equation.
you showed an expression.
that expression has to be equal to something.
for example:
100 = 3*(2x+1) - (x-5)
assuming that's your equation, it would be solved as follos:
expand the equation by performing the indicated operations to get:
100 = 3*(2x+1) - (x-5) becomes:
100 = 6x + 3 - x + 5
combine like terms to get:
100 = 5x + 8
subtract 8 from both sides of the equation to get:
92 = 5x
divide both sides of the equation by 5 to get:
92/5 = x
that can't be simplified any further so that's your answer.
in decimal form, the answer would be:
18.4 = x which can also be written as:
x = 18.4
you need to determine what the other side of your equation is before you can solve it.
i picked 100 just to show you how it's done.
you need to replace the 100 with the actual number from your problem and then solve using similar steps.
