Solve using the elimination method. 

4x – 8y = 48

11x + 3y = -105.5



4(3/8)x – 3y = (3/8)48 = 18  |Multiplying 1st EQ thru by 3/8 to eliminate y

  11x   + 3y = -105.5

  12.5x = - 87.5

      x = -7  and y = -9.5     | y = - (48+28)/8

   -77 - 28.5 = -105.5
