Question 479544: Hi there,
Here is the problem and I have the answer, although I'm not understanding how they got the answer: Do the following: (a) Write the equation in slope-intercept form. (b) Give the slope and y-intercept of the line. x=4y-7
(a) Y= 1/4x + 7/4 (How did they get this?)
(b) The slope is 1/4 (Again, how?)
The y-intercept is 7/4 (Again, how?)
Can you break it down step by step so I can understand this??
Thank you so so much!!!

You can put this solution on YOUR website! x=4y-7
whenever you are working on such a type of problem you have to re write the equation in the form y = mx+b
In this equation m = slope
b = y intercept.
x=4y-7
add 7 to both sides
x+7 = 4y-7+7
x+7 = 4y
/4
x/4 +7/4 = y
OR y= x/4 +7/4
ie: y = (1/4)x+7/4
compare this with y= mx+b
m= slope = 1/4
y intercept = b = 7/4
..
The line intersects the y axis at 7/4 OR 1.75
