Question 478243: The table shows population estimates for Texas from 2003-2006 from U.S.Census Bureau.
Year 2003 2004 2005 2006
Population 22.12 22.49 22.86 23.41
in millions
a) Divide the population for each year by the population in the preceding year. Round to 2 decimal places & show that TX has population increase that is approximately geometric. b)Write the general term of the geometric sequence modeling Texas's population,in millions,n years after 2002. c) Use model from part b) to project TX population, in millions, for year 2010 Round 2 decimal places. Can someone please help? Math 192 is so hard for me to grasp.

Hi,
{22.12, 22.49, 22.86, 23.41,...}
Geometric with a%5B1%5D = 22.12 and r = 1.02
a%5Bn%5D+=+a%5B1%5D%2Ar%5E%28n-1%29
a%5Bn%5D+=+22.12%2A%281.02%29%5E%28n-1%29
a%5B8%5D+=+22.12%2A%281.02%29%5E%287%29=+25.41 |2010 would be the 8th term
