are you talking about the end of the tenth mile or are you talking about the beginning of the tenth mile?
if you are talking about the end of the tenth mile then what i just showed you above is correct.
if you are talking about the beginning of the tenth mile, then that is a different problem.
the beginning of the 10th mile is the end of the 9th mile.
your equation would then be:
rate * time = distance
1 * time = 9
time = 9 hours.
it will take you 9 hours to get to the end of the 9th mile.
that will be the beginning of the 10th mile.
at that point you have 1 more mile to go in order to complete the whole 10 miles.
