SOLUTION: I am having trouble finding the determinant on a 4x4 matrix/Triangular Form. Please explain...
4 0 3 -2
3 1 2 -1
1 -6 -2 2 D = 39
2 2 0 -1

I tried exchanging Rows 3 and 4 over 1 and 2 but I can't get the 39. What should I remember when dealing with this form? Thanks a lot. Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! That depends on what you have learned.
I would suggest you expand the determinant
by minors; then do the arithmetic on the
resulting 3 by 3 determinants.
Have you learned how to do that?
39 is the correct answer.
