H varies inversely as t is written H alpha 1/t. We convert this to an equation by putting in a constant - call it k, so:

H+=+k%2Ft. We now need to fix this value of k ie find its value. So we need to be given H and t...which we are in the question, amazing coincidence :-)

12 = k/3
--> k = 12*3
k = 36

So the equation is H = 36/t
