Question 474633: How do you simplify 3 times the square root of 3 over 9
Answer by tinbar(133) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! first ignore the root3 part, just consider the 3/9, what does that simplify to?
...1/3, now factoring in the root3 part, we have the total answer as (1*root(3))/3 which is the same as root3/3. How do we simplify this now? Well, consider the bottom number, 3. Can we express 3 as something else to help us simplify this? Yes we can. 3 is the same as root3*root3, this is infact the definition of square roots.
So now we our root3/3 is the same as root3/(root3*root3). We can cancel one root3 from the bottom with the root3 on top, leaving us with 1/root3, which is as simple as we can make this
