You can put this solution on YOUR website!
300/5 = 60 km/hr
150/5 = 30 km/hr
-------------
The boat's speed is the average = (60 + 30)/2 = 45 km/hr
The current is the difference = 15 km/hr

A boat takes 5 hours to go 300 km downstream and it takes same time to go 150 km upstream. calculate the speed of boat in still water and speed of stream
**
let x=speed of boat in still water
let y=speed of stream
speed=distance/travel time
travel time same for downstream and upstream
300/5=x+y
150/5=x-y
60=x+y
30=x-y
add
2x=90
x=45
y=60-45=15
ans:
speed of boat in still water=45 km/hr
speed of stream=15 km/hr
