Question Sets Up the Proportion 

Let x represent number of gears made in 9 hours?

2088%2Fx+=+8%2F9   |Cross Multiplying to solve

    8x = highlight%289%2A2008%29 typo

     x = 9*2088/8 = 2349 gears can be made in 9 hours

       

     2088/2349 = 8/9
