Question 465748: In 1988, a dairy in Alberta, Canada, created a sundae with approximately 1 lb. of topping for every 83.2 lb. of ice cream. The total of the two ingredients weighed approximately 45,225 lb. To the nearest tenth of a pound, how many pounds of ice cream and how many pounds of topping were there?
I don't think I wrote the equation correctly.
2x + 83.2 = 45,225
83.2
-45.225
=37,975
I rounded it to 38
2x=38
2 2
x=19
But we all know this is incorrect.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! for every 84.2 lbs of sundae, one lb is topping and 83.2 lb is ice cream
topping = (1 / 84.2) * 45225
ice cream = (83.2 / 84.2) * 45225
