Question 465707: I am trying to help my son with an algebra problem (he is struggling, especially with word problems, and I am not very good at it either), and he desperately needs to do well on his next few assignments. This word problem has me stumped, because I am not sure which variation of d=rt,r=d/t, or t=d/r that he is supposed to use. I am hoping that someone can help me, help him. Here is the problem: Car A is traveling at 60 mph and Car B is traveling at 65 mph and car A passes a gas station at 2:00 and car B passes the sam gas station at 2:35; at what time will car B catch up to car A?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! please clarify this problem...are the cars leaving from the same spot at the same time going in the same direction? If car B has higher speed than it should get to gas station sooner than A. But you said A gets there at 2 and B at 2:35 which doesn't make sense. :)
thanks!
